FIVB WELCOMES SPECIAL GUESTS TO PARIS 2024 BEACH VOLLEYBALL VENUE ON OPENING DAY

The President welcomed the Prime Minister of Liechtenstein during the morning session

FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° today welcomed the Prime Minister of Liechtenstein, Daniel Risch, to the iconic Olympic Games Paris 2024 beach volleyball venue, nestled under the Eiffel Tower, while an array of other guests also came to enjoy the action.

In the evening session, Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) President His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, alongside Secretary General HE Jassim Rashid Al Buenain, were greeted by FIVB General Director Fabio Azevedo during their visit to watch Qatar’s Cherif Younousse & Ahmed Tijan start their Olympic campaign. They were also joined by FIFA President Gianni Infantino to witness beach volleyball lit up by the Eiffel Tower.

Other notable guests on the opening day included Mexican Sports Minister Ana Guevara and Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee President Andrew Liveris.

Guests were able to witness an incredible day of action to open the beach volleyball competition. Determined not to let the rain dampen the mood, the DJ and MC kept the Eiffel Tower Stadium pumping and the packed crowd were in full force to cheer on world-class teams, including the likes of Tokyo 2020 men’s bronze medallists Cherif Younousse & Ahmed Tijan from Qatar and women’s silver medallists Taliqua Clancy & Mariafe Artacho from Australia. Both pairs got their Paris 2024 campaigns off to a winning start.

All guests gathered in a packed Eiffel Tower Stadium, where thousands of fans braved the weather throughout the day to experience the excitement. The beach volleyball festivities are set to continue tomorrow from 9am CET, with sunshine expected to heat up the action at the Eiffel Tower Stadium.
