Manama, Bahrain, August 1, 2024 – China asserted their dominance in a straight-sets win against hosts Bahrain on Thursday in the 15th Asian Men’s U18 Volleyball Championship at Isa Sport City Hall C here.
The Chinese were in control of the Pool E match from the very start and never wavered. They held the home team to just single digit in the first set, but the Bahrainis showed some heart and didn’t go down without a fight in the second. It would not be enough, however, as the Chinese were firing on all cylinders, and they closed out the match with a 3-0 (25-8, 25-22, 25-20) score line.
Yu Xiang had 14 points to lead the way for the winners, while Li Xuyang chipped in 11. Hasan Ebrahim had eight for Bahrain and Jassim Madan finished with seven.
China rose to five points on the Pool E table and moved closer to confirming their place in the semi-finals. Bahrain stayed on one point.
The Chinese take on Thailand Friday evening, while Bahrain face Iran. The two games will complete the semi-final line-up.
