Bangkok, Thailand, August 28, 2024 – As the AVC Board of Administration Meeting came to a fruitful conclusion on Wednesday morning, AVC also successfully hosted Zonal Association Meetings to ensure that all five zones, which held their separate meetings on Wednesday evening, are ready for the 25th AVC Elective General Assembly between August 29 and 30.
The meetings for the Oceania Zone, Eastern Zone, Southeastern Zone, Central Zone and Western Zone were held at The Grand Fourwings Convention Hotel Bangkok, with Presidents and Members of each zone actively attending.
AVC President Mrs Rita Subowo together with FIVB General Director and Board of Administration Member Mr Fabio Azevedo also joined each Zonal Association Meeting, with the AVC President delivering a welcome speech and conveying her thank you message and appreciation for hard work and dedication Presidents and Members of each Zonal Association have put in for the sake of their great success and development.
Mr Fabio Azevedo also addressed each Zonal Association meeting, stressing the importance of working together for development and the strength of volleyball around the world. Mr Azevedo has already submitted his candidature for the position of FIVB President to the FIVB World Congress for formal election during its meeting in Porto, Portugal from November 15 to 17, 2024 in accordance with the FIVB Constitution.
One of the key points raised for further information, consideration and discussion in Zonal Association Meetings on Wednesday was each zone’s better understanding of the Elective General Assembly. During those meetings, each zone had a chance to study the overview of their election for zonal members as well as their selection preparation for well-qualified candidates who will be next chosen for AVC Technical Committees and Council.
FIVB Director for Asia and Oceania Mr Luis Alexandre Pontes Rodrigues was also present in some Zonal Assertion Meetings on Wednesday evening.
