FIVB President pays respects at Independence Monument during visit
The FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° visited Uzbekistan today for a number of high-level meetings as the country is set to host the FIVB Boys’ U19 World Championship for the first time ever in 2025.
The FIVB President and an FIVB delegation were welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, the First Deputy Chairman of the Volleyball Federation of Uzbekistan, Major General Bekmurod Abdullaev, the Deputy Minister of Sports Shahrullo Mahmudov, the staff of the National Olympic Committee and the Volleyball Federation of Uzbekistan.

On the first day of the visit, President Graça also laid flowers at the Independence Monument in the ‘New Uzbekistan’ Park. The FIVB President learnt about the architectural features of the complex composition, which incorporated the most important events from the history of Uzbekistan from ancient times to the present day.
The New Uzbekistan Park and the Independence Monument were built in honor of the country’s 30th anniversary of independence. It has become a good tradition for high-ranking guests and official foreign delegations to lay wreaths at the monument during a visit to the country.
