The Volleyball Australia Annual General Meeting (AGM) and National Stakeholders Meeting took place in Hobart over the weekend, with significant appointments recognised and confirmed.

The AGM saw former Member of Federal Parliament Michael Johnson appointed to the Board.

Through a career in business and politics which has taken him the globe, Michael is a firm believer in the power of sports diplomacy and his experience in this space will be welcomed on the Board.

Craig Carracher AM, himself First Senior Executive Vice President of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), was also elected unopposed to what will be his twelfth year as President of the Board, noting he was both thrilled and humbled to do so.

“I’m honoured to have been elected and selected to preside for another year as President of the Volleyball Australia Board,” said Carracher.

“We have set our aspirations on being the best “off court” team in Australian sport to support our amazing athletes, coaches and officials on court.

“Thank you to the Volleyball Australia Board and our leadership team in all our States and Territories for their continued hard work and support.”

Carracher also expressed his congratulations to three-time Olympian, Julien Prosser, who was officially appointed as a Life Member of Volleyball Australia.

One of Australia’s most decorated athletes, Prosser excelled on the beach for nearly 20 years.

Domestically he was crowned Australian Beach Volleyball Champion 14 times in the period between 1989 and 2007, and internationally he played more than 140 FIVB World Tour matches, winning eight bronze and one gold medal in the process.

Prosser also proudly represented Australia at three Olympic Games in 1996, 2000 and 2004, with his best result a fourth place finish with his partner Mark Williams in Athens.

Julien Prosser accepts his Life Membership from President Craig Carracher AM.
