FIVB DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION MEETING SETS STAGE FOR TRANSFORMATIVE 2025

FIVB President highlights key pillars of FIVB Strategic Vision 2032 as crucial to Development Commission’s mission

The FIVB Development Commission held its annual meeting on Tuesday, February 4, marking the first under the leadership of FIVB President Fabio Azevedo. Held in a hybrid format, the meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on the significant development progress made in 2024 while setting out an ambitious but realistic roadmap for 2025.

In his opening address, President Azevedo outlined the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032, reinforcing its guiding principle: “Together as One”. He identified three key pillars – knowledge transfer and sustainability, the categorisation and membership of National Federations, and social responsibility through mass participation – as central to the commission’s mission. These areas, he emphasised, are essential in ensuring that volleyball continues to expand its reach and impact worldwide.

The Development Commission President Mushtaque Mohammed welcomed both returning and new members. He spoke of the commission’s responsibility in shaping the future of volleyball and the importance of collaboration in achieving its goals.

“This is the start of a new era – an era with a great vision – Together as One,” he stated. “We will be part of that vision by contributing. Our role is clear: to use this commission as a means to implement the three key pillars of the vision, ensuring that through our collective efforts, we make a lasting, positive impact and create a better world through the sport of volleyball.”

The meeting covered a range of key development initiatives, including the FIVB Volleyball Experiences at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, humanitarian projects and the commission’s working groups. Discussions focused on strengthening pathways for player, coach and federation development while ensuring long-term growth in all aspects of volleyball.

The achievements of 2024 were also discussed and proved a strong foundation to build upon. Over 42,000 users engaged with the FIVB E-learning platform in 2024, accumulating more than 11,300 hours of learning time. A total of 87 coaching courses were conducted, reaching 2,756 participants, while 300,000 fans experienced volleyball firsthand at the Paris 2024 Volleyball Experiences.

With a clear alignment to the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032, the Development Commission reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the growth and accessibility of volleyball worldwide. With the motto “Together as One” as its core, the commission will continue working to empower and strengthen the Global Volleyball Movement.
