Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia, and Mr Rod Bunten were announced this week as event patrons of the 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships in Adelaide.
They expressed “We are pleased to be joint patrons of the 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships. It’s great to see these World Championships come to Adelaide, and the Oceania region, for the first time.
Interest in international beach volleyball is growing. A popular sport at the Paris Olympics; it’s also one of few sports to achieve gender parity in prize money and viewership.
South Australians love their sport and their brilliant beaches, so we are sure they will massively support these championships. We look forward to welcoming the best players from around the world to Adelaide.”
Craig Carracher AM, President of Volleyball Australia and Chair of the Adelaide 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships (Adelaide 2025), welcomed the Governor and Mr Bunten accepting the roles.
“We’re extremely honoured that Her Excellency and Mr Bunten will be event Patrons of this year’s World Championships,” he said.
“The acceptance of this patronage shows the importance of this event for all South Australians as an opportunity to promote Adelaide and the state to a wide and diverse multicultural audience.”
A number of strategic appointments from the South Australian business community have been made on the Adelaide 2025 Local Advisory Committee. Local media personality Ali Clarke, finance expert Federico Tata Nardini (Fleet Space) and businessman and former Socceroo Bruce Djite (Property Council of Australia) will advocate for the championships and support the delivery of the event objectives.
The committee will be supported by Olympic Beach Volleyballers and South Australians Louise Bawden OLY and Chris McHugh OLY to ensure that the athlete experience is at the heart of the event. Volleyball South Australia CEO Karla Della Pietra will lead on community engagement and Volleyball Olympian Anita Palm OLY will focus on legacy and impact across the sport.
About the Adelaide 2025 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships
Adelaide will exclusively host the next FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships with more than 190 of the best women and men from around the globe set to play in the heart of the city at The Drive and alongside the northern riverbank.
From 14 to 23 November 2025 fans will enjoy matches, activations and a ‘beach festival’ featuring five competition and warm-up courts. Visiting players, officials and spectators will enjoy unique South Australian tourism experiences across food, wine, beaches, wildlife and nature.
The 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships are supported by the South Australian Government through the South Australian Tourism Commission.
