Pasig City, Philippines, April 22, 2025 – The final eight teams in contention for the title have been confirmed upon the conclusion of the elimination round of the 1st AVC Women’s Volleyball Champions League on Tuesday.
From Pool A, Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu VC booked their pass to the quarterfinals after a straight-sets defeat, 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-11) of Jordan’s Al Naser Club. Captain Karyna Denysova and Yuliia Dymar posted double-digit scores with 15 points and 13 points respectively.
In Pool B, Philippines’ Petro Gazz Angels confirmed their slot via a 3-0 match (25-8, 25-12, 25-12) against Hong Kong, China’s Hip Hing Women’s Volleyball Team. Giovanna Day led all scorers on the board, posting a total of 18 points in the victory.
Vietnam’s VTV Binh Dien Long An will also progress to the next phase as they won 3-1 (22-25, 25-15, 25-20, 25-15) over Iran’s Saipa Tehran in Pool C. Vi Thi Nhu Quynh helped carry the team to victory, amassing a total of 24 points from 19 attacks, 3 service aces and 2 blocks.
Meanwhile, Thailand’s Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC endured the decider, 3-2 (26-24, 25-20, 20-25, 20-25, 15-9) against Philippines’ PLDT High Speed Hitters. Despite Tuesday’s loss, the PLDT have still qualified for the quarterfinals as Pool D’s second best ranked team.
BAIC Motor Volleyball Club (CHN), Creamline Cool Smashers (PHI), and Taipower (TPE) complete the final eight teams in the competition, while Queensland Pirates (AUS), along with Al Naser Club (JOR), Hip Hing (HKG), and Saipa Tehran (IRI) will bow out of title contention.
The quarterfinal matches are scheduled on Thursday and Friday, to define the final four teams to meet for the semifinals set on Saturday.
The new champions will be crowned on Sunday, who will qualify to compete in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Club Championship along with the vice-champions.
