A call to the Global Volleyball Movement to get involved in the Art of Giving from 2 to 17 May 2025
This month, the FIVB invites the Global Volleyball Movement to join the world in celebrating the 12th International Day of Art of Giving. From 2 to 17 May 2025, join the Fortnight of Happiness by spreading the word and promoting acts of kindness within your communities.
What is the Art of Giving?
Founded by Prof. Achyuta Samanta, the visionary behind the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) and Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) in India, the Art of Giving is more than a day or a gesture. It is a philosophy and movement that promotes peace, empathy, compassion and gratitude through small and selfless acts of kindness.
Since its inception in 2013, the movement has reached over 120 countries. Whether through sharing time, love, support or simply showing care, everyone can practise the Art of Giving.
This year’s theme is “Neighbourgood – Bringing Good to the Neighborhood”. From helping a friend to organising a community event, every kind act makes your neighbourhood, and the world, a better place.
How can you get involved?
Get ready to inspire the world with your acts of giving! Here’s how:
- Share your stories on social media using the hashtags #ArtOfGiving and #AchyutaSamanta.
- Encourage your National Federation, club, or teammates to join in and spread the message.
- Don’t stop at May 17, make giving a habit. Share your stories with KIIT, KISS & KIMS through the hashtags to be featured on their platforms and keep the spirit alive all year long.
The FIVB, Volleyball Foundation and the Art of Giving
In October 2024, the FIVB Volleyball Foundation, KIIT and KISS signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding, strengthening their shared commitment to youth empowerment, education and development through volleyball.
Last year, the FIVB, Volleyball Foundation, KIIT and KISS united in celebration during a vibrant Volleyball Festival. The festival welcomed over 40,000 children, including 5,000 young volleyball players, in a powerful celebration of the sport’s ability to unite and inspire. The event also made history with a new Guinness World Record for the most players in a volleyball exhibition match, featuring 430 players.
FIVB President Fabio Azevedo is also proudly serving as a Global Goodwill Ambassador of this year’s Art of Giving celebrations.
The FIVB encourages the Global Volleyball Movement to get involved in the Art of Giving and celebrate a kinder and more connected world.
