MEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FEATURED IN TIMES SQUARE

The FIVB’s flagship men’s tournament takes the spotlight in the Philippines’ major promotional campaign in New York

The 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship was featured on a digital billboard in Times Square, giving the event a high-profile moment in one of New York’s most recognisable and busiest landmarks.

The Local Organising Committee’s campaign promoted the upcoming tournament, which will be held in the Philippines from 12 to 28 September in Pasay and Quezon City in Metro Manila. It will be the first time the Philippines hosts the Men’s World Championship and the first time the event returns to Asia in more than 30 years.

Times Square, one of the busiest pedestrian areas in the world, is often used to launch major international events. The appearance of the World Championship in such a prominent setting reflects the FIVB and the Philippines’ efforts to broaden volleyball’s global visibility ahead of its expanded edition.

The latest edition of the Men’s World Championship will feature 32 teams and will move to a biennial format.

The Philippines, competing as hosts, are in New York for an exhibition match against a selection of Filipino-American players. Members of the national team witnessed the billboard feature during their visit.

With the Times Square feature and community events in New York, the countdown is on for the Philippines as it builds momentum toward hosting the Men’s World Championship for the first time.
