IRAN MARCH ON, KYRGYZSTAN REBOUND ON ACTION-PACKED DAY 6 OF CAVA BOYS’ U16 & MEN’S U19 CHAMPIONSHIPS 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, June 15, 2025 – As the penultimate day of the round-robin stage unfolded at the CAVA Boys’ U16 and Men’s U19 Volleyball Championships 2025, Day 6 saw a mix of dominance, redemption, and tightening race to the top. Held at the vibrant JAR Sports Hall in Tashkent, the day featured four highly anticipated matchups that played a crucial role in shaping the final standings ahead of the last day.

BOYS’ U16

MATCH 9: Kyrgyzstan vs Uzbekistan 2

The day began with a much-needed victory for Kyrgyzstan, whic registered their second win of the tournament with a commanding 3–0 sweep over Uzbekistan 2. The sets were not just dominant in score, but also in execution, ending with 25–0, 25–0, 25–0 – highly unusual result suggesting either a forfeiture or technical default. 

MATCH 10: Iran vs Uzbekistan 1

Iran continued their unbeaten run with yet another clinical victory, this time over Uzbekistan 1, winning 3–0 with set scores of 25–16, 25–14, and 25–20. Though Uzbekistan showed more resistance than Iran’s earlier opponents – especially in the final set – it wasn’t enough to halt the Iranian momentum. 

Iran’s superior blocking, well-timed attacks, and overall court control secured their fourth consecutive win. With this result, Iran now stand atop the U16 standings with 12 points from 4 wins against no loss, 12–0 set record, and an impressive point ratio of 2.343. Uzbekistan 1, meanwhile, remained winless with four losses and now prepare for their final match against Kyrgyzstan on Day 7.

MEN’S U19

MATCH 9: Kyrgyzstan vs Uzbekistan

Kyrgyzstan earned their first win of the tournament, defeating Uzbekistan 2 in straight sets: 25–22, 25–21, 25–19. The match was hard-fought, with Uzbekistan 2 keeping close in every set, but Kyrgyzstan’s resilience and clutch play made the difference. The win gave Kyrgyzstan a crucial three points and a morale boost heading into their final game. Uzbekistan 2, despite showing flashes of potential throughout the championship, are now mathematically out of medal contention with four losses and no win.

MATCH 10: Iran vs Uzbekistan 1

The most anticipated match of the day lived up to expectations as Iran faced off against host nation Uzbekistan 1 in a battle of unbeaten teams. Iran emerged victorious in straight sets – 25–16, 25–21, 25–22 – though Uzbekistan pushed the visitors hard, especially in the second and third sets. Iran’s composure under pressure and tactical discipline helped them maintain control in key moments. With this win, Iran secured the top spot in the U19 standings with a flawless 4–0 record, having not dropped a single set in the tournament so far. Uzbekistan 1, despite the loss, remain second and still in the hunt for a strong finish.

“Our boys are focused, and every win builds our confidence. We’re playing smart, not just strong,” said Iran U16 Head Coach Arash Sadeghiany.

“Beating the host is never easy, but our discipline helped us finish strong,” shared Iran U19 Coach Adel Gholami.
