PACIFIC MINI GAMES SET TO SPARK VOLLEYBALL AND BEACH VOLLEYBALL FEVER WITH FIVB EMPOWERMENT SUPPORT

The Palau 2025 multisport event takes place from June 29 to July 9

The Pacific Mini Games 2025 in Palau is coming up. The event from June 29 to July 9 will bring together over 1,500 athletes from 24 nations, competing in 14 different sports. Both beach volleyball and volleyball are on the Pacific Mini Games program, and FIVB Volleyball Empowerment is set to play a major role in these competitions as many of the participating teams benefit from its financial support.

19 of the participating nations, members of the Oceania Volleyball Zonal Association, benefit from FIVB Volleyball Empowerment support. The program has so far allocated to them a combined total of USD 2.83 million in coach support for their national teams, volleyball and beach volleyball equipment and knowledge transfer projects.

The volleyball federation of the Pacific Mini Games 2025 host nation Palau alone has so far been granted USD 120,000 in volleyball and beach volleyball equipment, USD 42,000 in high-performance coach support for their national volleyball teams and another USD 6,000 for a volleyball referee development knowledge transfer program. A Gerflor floor provided by FIVB Volleyball Empowerment will be used for the matches during the Pacific Mini Games. The FIVB has also provided key infrastructure like nets and net systems, and official volleyballs.

This forms part of FIVB’s broader support to the host country, aiming to enhance performance and ensure a strong legacy. This comprehensive support will significantly contribute to the success of the Mini Pacific games and leave a lasting impact on the host country’s volleyball development.

The beach volleyball event at Palau 2025 will feature 16 men’s and 14 women’s teams representing a total of 19 different federations. The sand battles will start on July 2 and the medalists will emerge on July 8, when the third-place matches and the finals will be held. 14 of the 30 participating duos arrive from countries, whose federations benefit from FIVB Volleyball Empowerment support.

10 men’s and nine women’s teams will take to the volleyball courts of the Pacific Mini Games. Six of these 19 teams are FIVB Volleyball Empowerment beneficiaries. The participating teams are split into two single round-robin pools per gender. The pool winners and the pool runners-up will qualify for the semifinals, while the third and fourth-placed teams in the pools will continue in the playoffs for the distribution of the places from fifth to eighth in the final standings. Volleyball action starts on June 30 and ends with the gold medal showdowns on July 8.
