Dushanbe, Tajikistan, July 3, 2025 – The CAVA Girls’ U16 Volleyball Championship 2025 officially began on July 1 at the prestigious Olympic Palace in Dushanbe. This historic event marks the first time the Tajikistan Volleyball Federation has hosted an international volleyball tournament, signifying a milestone in the country’s sporting journey.
The opening ceremony was a grand occasion attended by several high-ranking government officials and dignitaries, reflecting the national importance of the championship. The presence of these esteemed guests underscored the country’s growing commitment to developing youth sports and strengthening its position within the Asian volleyball community.
Four national teams are participating in the tournament: Tajikistan (host nation), Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. The competition is being held in a round-robin format from July 1 to 7, with each team facing the others to determine final rankings and playoff positions.
Day 1 Recap – July 1, 2025
The opening day featured two matches. In the first match, Kazakhstan displayed outstanding form against Kyrgyzstan, claiming a decisive 3–0 victory (25-15, 25-17, 25-12). Kazakhstan’s precise serves and strong coordination dominated the court throughout all three sets.
In the second encounter, Uzbekistan overcame the host nation Tajikistan with another straight-sets win (25-19, 25-15, 25-23). Despite a spirited performance from the home side, particularly in the third set, Uzbekistan’s consistency and experience proved the difference.
Day 2 Recap – July 2, 2025
On the second day of the championship, Kazakhstan returned to the court and delivered a commanding performance against Tajikistan, registering a lopsided 3–0 win (25-7, 25-4, 25-9). With this win, Kazakhstan solidified their lead at the top of the table with six sets won and none lost.
In the evening fixture, spectators were treated to a thrilling four-set match between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Although Kyrgyzstan took the opening set 25-15, Uzbekistan bounced back in style to win the next three sets 25-20, 25-19, 25-23, securing a hard-fought 3–1 victory. The match was the most competitive so far and showcased the developing talent within both teams.

After two days of matches, both Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan remain unbeaten, each securing two wins out of two matches contested. Kazakhstan lead the table with two straight-set victories, while Uzbekistan follow closely with two wins, including one in four sets. Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are yet to register a win, having lost both of their opening matches.
The remaining days of the championship promise exciting volleyball action as teams continue to battle for the top position. With strong performances from both Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, the competition for the title is heating up.
A Momentous Occasion for Tajikistan
Beyond the court, the event holds national significance for Tajikistan. Hosting its first-ever international volleyball competition is a major step forward for the country’s sports development and international presence.
The Tajikistan Volleyball Federation, under the umbrella of CAVA, has made commendable efforts to organize the tournament to FIVB standards. However, as of July 2, no official press reports have yet been published locally.
The CAVA Girls’ U16 Volleyball Championship continues through July 7, with further matches scheduled daily. The championship not only provides a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents but also promotes friendship, sportsmanship, and regional unity across Central Asia.
