Manila, Philippines, July 3, 2025 – International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) President Mr Fabio Azevedo visited the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) Office on Thursday as part of a two-day inspection and coordination trip ahead of the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship, set to take place in the Philippines this September.

He was joined by Volleyball World Chief Business Officer Mr Guido Betti and welcomed by FIVB Executive Vice President and Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) President Mr Ramon “Tats” Suzara, along with Members of the PNVF Board and the Philippines national men’s volleyball team.

Later that evening, a dinner was held with key stakeholders, including Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Mr Patrick “Pató” Gregorio, Senator Pia Cayetano, Mr Azevedo, and Mr Suzara, who also serves as the PNVF President. The group discussed crucial preparations and national-level support for the upcoming world-class event.

“This is a very important visit, albeit a short one, as President Azevedo is en route to Palau for the Pacific Mini Games. Despite his tight schedule, he made time to come to the Philippines to ensure we are on track. He personally expressed appreciation for the world-class quality of our preparations,” Mr Suzara was quoted as saying in an interview with local reporters.

The AVC and PNVF President emphasized the importance of continued support from both the public and private sectors. “The government is firmly behind this event, and we are in ongoing discussions to ensure everything is in place.”

“We are grateful to President Fabio for making this visit. While brief, it provided valuable guidance that will help us deliver a successful and historic World Championship, the first ever hosted by the Philippines,” he added.

President Azevedo expressed confidence in the country’s readiness to stage the prestigious tournament.

“We have no doubt the 2025 Men’s World Championship will be a resounding success,” said Mr Azevedo. “It will be a landmark event for the Philippines, and the world will witness the passion and energy of Filipino fans through spectacular volleyball matches held here.”
