Bangkok, Thailand, July 21, 2025 – Thailand marked a vibrant milestone on Monday as the country officially kicked off its promotional campaign to celebrate the one-month countdown to the highly-anticipated FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2025.
The grand event featured the unveiling of the official mascot “V Angel,” the iconic World Championship Trophy, and a full range of themed merchandise, all aimed at igniting nationwide excitement ahead of the global volleyball spectacle.
Presided over by Mr Somporn Chaibangyang, President of the Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA), the kickoff event was held at the Golden Tulip Sovereign Hotel Bangkok in conjunction with a press conference to drum up enthusiasm for Thailand’s historic role as host of the prestigious event, set to take place from August 22 to September 7, 2025.
Sanctioned by the FIVB, the 2025 edition of the Volleyball Women’s World Championship will gather 32 elite national teams from across the globe, all vying for ultimate glory. These teams split into eight pools of four teams apiece to first compete in pool round-robin preliminaries across four regional hubs, Chiang Mai (North), Nakhon Ratchasima (Northeast), Phuket (South), and Bangkok (Central), before converging at the Hua Mark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok for the final rounds featuring round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.
The Hua Mark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok, steeped in volleyball history, has previously hosted major FIVB events including the World Grand Prix, the VNL Preliminaries, and the 2024 VNL Finals.
At the heart of the campaign was the official unveiling of the mascot “V Angel”, a uniquely Thai interpretation of the mythical Kinnaree, a half-human, half-bird female celestial being from Thai folklore. Developed under the concept of a “Volleyball Angel,” this beautifully crafted character reflects the fusion of traditional heritage with modern creativity, symbolizing Thailand as both the Land of Smiles and the Land of Design.
The mascot embodies five distinctive “Angels,” each representing one of the host cities:
• T-Angel (Thailand) – Red, Ruby Siam
• B-Angel (Bangkok) – Yellow, Calendula
• C-Angel (Chiang Mai) – Pink, Wild Himalayan Cherry
• K-Angel (Korat/Nakhon Ratchasima) – Green, Khao Yai Nature
• P-Angel (Phuket) – Blue, Azure Seas
Adding to the fanfare, the World Championship Trophy was dramatically revealed by Thai actress and Miss Thailand Universe 2006 Charm Osathanond, who presented it to an eager audience alongside Thailand national team star Hattaya Bamrungsuk, who carried the official event flag.
The scene was completed by a colorful parade of young girls proudly waving the flags of all 32 participating nations.
The ceremony also marked the launch of a full line of official merchandise including jerseys, caps, keychains, water bottles, scarves, mascot dolls, and more.
Members of Thailand’s women’s national team took to the stage one by one, each modeling and showcasing an item, as the official theme song “To Be the Champion” played in the background. Fans can browse and purchase the collection via the Thailand Volleyball Association Fan Page: facebook.com/ThailandVolleyballAssociation.
To further spread awareness and national pride, TVA announced the “World Trophy on Tour,” giving volleyball fans across the country the rare opportunity to see the Championship trophy up close. The tour will stop in each of the four co-host cities:
• Chiang Mai: July 23–27, 1st Floor, Central Chiangmai
• Nakhon Ratchasima: July 30–August 3, 4th Floor, Terminal 21 Korat
• Phuket: August 6–10, 3rd Floor, Central Phuket
• Bangkok: August 16–17, 1st Floor, ICONSIAM
TVA President Mr Somporn Chaibangyang confirmed that all tickets for Thailand matches have already sold out, reflecting the country’s immense excitement for the event.
He also emphasized TVA’s commitment to inclusivity, stating that free access will be granted to children, youth, and persons with disabilities to ensure full stands and vibrant atmospheres throughout the Championship.
On the same day, TVA Secretary General Mr Nuttapong Kesaphan, alongside Thai women’s volleyball stars Pornpun Gurdpard, Pimpichaya Kokram, and Chatchu-On Moksri, joined a high-profile press conference titled “Travel Direction for Sports and Tourism in 2025.”
The event, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Tourism Authority of Thailand, was presided over by Tourism and Sports Minister Mr Sorawong Thienthong and Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.
The press conference underscored the Thai government’s strategic vision to position sports as a driver of sustainable tourism and national pride, an ambition perfectly embodied by the country’s proud hosting of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2025.
