Zhangjiagang, China, August 23, 2025 – Korea clinched the Asian Eastern Zonal Men’s Volleyball Championship 2025 title in commanding fashion, defeating Chinese Taipei in straight sets 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-16) in Saturday’s final as hosts China secured the bronze medal after overcoming Hong Kong, China.
The opening set of the showdown was the tightest of the contest, but Korea maintained control throughout before outside hitter Kim Jihan sealed it with a decisive spike for 25-22. From that point onward, the Koreans showcased their superiority with consistency and confidence.
Led by tournament’s Most Valuable Player Im Donghyeok, Korea displayed a flawless combination of technical precision and mental resilience, leaving little room for their opponents to respond.
Despite the loss, Chang Yu-Chen of Chinese Taipei stood out with an inspired effort, particularly in the third set where he tallied eight points. However, his side struggled to convert opportunities and were unable to withstand Korea’s relentless attacking pressure and well-organized defense. Chang’s spirited performance nevertheless earned admiration from fans and opponents alike, cementing his place as one of the standout players of the final.
Earlier in the bronze-medal match, China battled past a determined Hong Kong, China side 3-1 (25-21, 25-11, 25-27, 25-22).
China asserted dominance early with a composed first-set win and an overwhelming 25-11 triumph in the second, one of the most lopsided sets of the tournament. Hong Kong, China responded bravely to claim a hard-fought third set 27-25, capitalizing on China’s lapse in momentum.
However, the hosts regrouped quickly in the fourth set, tightening their defense and regaining offensive rhythm to close out the match. The victory not only underlined China’s strength and adaptability but also highlighted the resilience and fighting spirit of Hong Kong, China, whic earned respect for their performance against formidable opposition.
