DOHA TO HOST U18 BEACH VOLLEYBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS – A FIRST FOR THE MIDDLE EAST

Doha, Qatar, September 22, 2025 – The Al Gharafa Beach Courts in Doha are set to host the FIVB U18 Beach Volleyball World Championships from October 7 to 11, 2025, marking the first time the prestigious event lands in the Middle East. The tournament will feature a stellar line-up of some of the world’s most promising national teams, eager to make their mark on the global stage.

The action kicks off with the qualification stage, where 24 teams will go head-to-head for the last four coveted spots in the main draw. They will join 28 directly qualified teams, making up 32 men’s and 32 women’s teams – a total of 64 – with representation from every corner of the globe.

The U18 Championships have previously touched down in Thailand (2021) and Türkiye (2022), while China hosted the U19 edition in 2024. Now, the torch passes to Doha, underscoring Qatar’s rise as a powerhouse and go-to destination for world-class sporting events.

In the previous edition, Poland struck gold in the men’s competition, with Latvia clinching silver and Iran bronze. On the women’s side, the United States of America reigned supreme with gold, Spain secured silver, and another USA team rounded out the podium with bronze.

Mr. Mohammed Salem Al-Kuwari, Chairman of the Beach Volleyball Committee and Board Member of the Qatar Volleyball Association, emphasized that hosting the championships is both a feather in Qatar’s cap and a testament to the FIVB’s confidence in the country’s capabilities. He highlighted Doha’s reputation as a preferred hub for international competitions, thanks to its state-of-the-art facilities and proven track record in delivering major events.

“We are proud to welcome the double-gender championships to the region for the very first time,” Al-Kuwari said. “Our goal is to stage an edition that not only lives up to expectations but raises the bar, showcasing Qatar as a true sporting capital. Fans can look forward to edge-of-the-seat action from the brightest young stars in beach volleyball.”

He added that the event provides a golden opportunity for young athletes to cut their teeth at the highest level, while also giving local fans the chance to witness world-class action live from the stands and right on home soil.

With this landmark event, Qatar continues to cement its standing as a global sports hub, leaving no stone unturned in its pursuit of hosting top-tier competitions across all levels.
