Doha, Qatar, October 12, 2025 – Qatar’s beach volleyball star Cherif Younousse has achieved a new personal milestone, topping the Best Blockers category after the Qatari team clinched the title at the Newport Beach Elite16 event held in California, USA, as part of the Beach Pro Tour Elite16 series.
The Qatari duo defeated Brazil in the final in straight sets (21–16, 30–28) to secure the championship title.
Cherif recorded 35 successful blocks, outperforming Sweden’s Jakob Hölting Nilsson and Latvia’s Kristians Fokerots, who each finished with 34.
Younousse delivered an outstanding performance alongside his teammate Ahmed Tijan, leading Qatar to a convincing two-set victory (21–16, 30–28).
Speaking after the win, Cherif Younousse said: “Winning the Newport Beach title and achieving this personal record is a great motivational boost as we continue our journey toward more victories, especially ahead of the Beach Volleyball World Championships in Adelaide.”
