Brazil finish with double silver, while Italy and Kazakhstan celebrate historic bronze medals in Fort Wayne
The United States thrilled the home crowd in Fort Wayne with a remarkable comeback on Saturday to win the women’s gold medal at the 2025 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Cup.
After dropping the first two sets, the Americans regrouped and battled back to defeat Brazil 3–2 (24–26, 20–25, 25–18, 25–20, 15–12), sealing a memorable home triumph. The reigning three-time Paralympic gold medallists showed their trademark resilience and composure, turning the match around with sharp serving and balanced teamwork. Brazil, unbeaten until the final, fought hard but fell just short, settling for silver after a strong campaign.
Italy joined the women’s podium with a historic 3–1 (24–26, 25–20, 25–13, 25–18) win over Canada to claim their first-ever World Cup medal. Led by Sara Cirelli and Francesca Bosio, the Italians grew in confidence as the match progressed, closing out a breakthrough result that marked a major step forward for the European side.
In the men’s competition, Egypt captured their first World Cup title with a 3–1 (25–19, 22–25, 25–15, 25–21) victory over Brazil on Saturday. The two-time Paralympic bronze medallists and 2023 silver medallists delivered a composed and commanding performance, combining powerful serves and strong defence to complete their climb from silver to gold.
Brazil’s second silver medal in Fort Wayne highlighted their growing consistency across both divisions, while Kazakhstan earned their first men’s World Cup medal with a 3–1 (25–23, 25–18, 15–25, 25–23) win over the United States. Perdebay Namuratov led the charge with 23 points in a confident display that secured a proud moment for the Kazakh team.
The 2025 edition concluded with champions from two continents and two historic bronze finishes, underscoring the sport’s expanding global reach and competitive depth.
