MALÉ, Maldives — Host nation Maldives and Kyrgyzstan continued their flawless starts in the Women’s CAVA Cup 2025 on Sunday, each posting their second consecutive straight-set victories to tighten their grip on the top spots of the round-robin standings.

Playing before an enthusiastic home crowd at the Social Centre Indoor Hall, Maldives closed the day with a commanding 3–0 victory over Afghanistan (25–20, 25–13, 25–12) in Match 4. The contest lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes and was witnessed by approximately 1,000 spectators.

Aminath Shaha Shamin led the hosts with 15 points, while Hawwa Rashidha added 14 and Aminath Areesha contributed eight as Maldives controlled the match with sustained pressure at the net and from the service line. Afghanistan’s Roghayeh Mohammadi topped her team with eight points, with Zahra Hanieh Afghan adding five, but the visitors struggled to break through the disciplined Maldivian defense.

Earlier in the day, Kyrgyzstan extended their unbeaten run with a convincing 3–0 win over Bangladesh (25–15, 25–21, 25–11) in Match 3, which lasted 1 hour and 16 minutes. Gulmira Tulenova paced the Kyrgyz side with 12 points, supported by Nurzhamal Bolotbekova with 11, while Saikal Amirakulova and Zhanneτα Suerkulova chipped in 10 points apiece.

Bangladesh found it difficult to sustain momentum against Kyrgyzstan’s size and attacking depth, despite Lavani Khatun leading her team with eight points.
