THE FIVB BEACH VOLLEYBALL WORLD TOUR EVENT IN CANCUN, MEXICO WILL NOT BE HELD THIS YEAR

Lausanne, Switzerland, October 13, 2020 – The FIVB and event organisers in Cancun, Mexico were exploring the possibility of hosting a previously postponed 4-star event, originally scheduled for March 2020, in December 2020. However, all parties have agreed not to organise this prestigious event this year, and all attention now turns to featuring this event in 2021 if circumstances allow.

The FIVB looks ahead with optimism to the strong return of beach volleyball in 2021. Continued assessments are taking place in relation to health and safety protocols, international travel restrictions and policies.

In addition, the FIVB has already launched the application process for the 2021 calendar which will include the FIVB U21 World Championships, and is aiming to feature as many 1 to 5-star events across the globe as possible. The revised terms and conditions for hosting FIVB World Tour events have also been communicated to all stakeholders and posted on the FIVB website. Applications from interested organisers can still be sent to the FIVB. The full document can be found at https://www.fivb.com/en/beachvolleyball/partnershipopportunities

The FIVB is aiming to publish the 2021 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour calendar later this year.
