All Set in Amman for the 2nd AVC Asian Women’s U16 Volleyball Championship

AMMAN, Jordan — It’s all systems go for Jordan’s hosting of the 2nd AVC Asian Women’s U16 Volleyball championship, where 13 nations compete in the spirit of friendship and fair play, from November 1 to 8 in Al Hussein Youth City.

Her Royal Highness Princess Ayah Bint Faisal, the president of the Jordan Volleyball Federation, warmly welcomed the participating teams and the AVC Control Committee in the general technical meeting on Friday at the Princess Sumaya Hall, which will serve as the court 2 of the tournament.

“As we come together in preparation for the Asia Under-16 Women’s Championship, a tournament we hold with great pride as it reflects our deep commitment to empowering women and supporting their growth in sports. This championship is not only a competition, but a message of pride, hope, and unity,” said the federation president.

Faisal wishes all the participating teams all the best when they fight for the second Asian Women’s U16 championship.

“It embodies Jordan’s belief in the strength of its youth, and in the power of sport to bridge divides, foster understanding, and bring nations closer together. Through this event, we celebrate Asian cooperation and the shared values that unite us in friendship and fair play,” she said. “Over the past few weeks, our team has worked with passion and precision to ensure every detail reflects Jordan’s dedication to excellence, and to welcome you all with the warmth and hospitality that our country is known for.”

Also part of the Control Committee are Technical Delegate Anelya Nurmagambetova, Technical Sub Committee Raditia Rahmat, Bader Alkous, and Mohammed Afshardoust, Referee Delegate Dr. Khaled Alzughaibi, Referee Sub Committee Mohammad Shahmiri, Ibrahim Mohd A Al-Naama, and Jaafar Ebrahim, Medical Delegate Dr. Oh Jae-Keun, Competition Technology Director Pavarit Dairinram, and Competition Technology Assistance Mingkwan Pusiddusid.

The 2023 U16 runner-up China and Korea raise the curtain of this year’s championship at the main court, Prince Hamzah Arena, at 1 p.m. (Jordan time). Over at court two, Princess Sumaya Hall, Pool D teams Thailand and Australia clash at 3:30 p.m., while Kazakhstan battles Qatar over at court 1.

Defending champion Japan opens its title bid against the Philippines in Pool B at 6 p.m. at court 2, while Hong Kong, China and Uzbekistan collide at the same time over at the main court.
