Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, October 2, 2021 – Kazakhstan’s Altay proved their superiority over Iran’s Super League champions Saipa to pull off a confident straight-set 25-11, 25-20, 25-15 win for two in a row at the 2021 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship at the Terminal 21 Hall here on Saturday.
Altay came up in full strength in this match against Saipa, making use of the splendid offensive combination of Sana Anarkulova and Nadia Kodola, both of them chipped in with huge spikes. Altay faced no issues in shutting out the Iranian side in a lop-sided affair.
With the victory over Saipa, Altay remained unbeaten in Pool B. Sana Anarkulova emerged as Altay’s top scorer with 10 points, while Kristina Anikonova and Nadia Kodola similarly added 7 points apiece. Mona Ashofteh scored 8 points on the Saipa’s losing effort.
Saipa will next play Rebisco in their last preliminary match on Sunday, while Altay go up against Supreme Chonburi in a highly-anticipated clash to determine the Pool B winners.
“Today, we did a very good job. We used good tactics on our blocks and it worked out pretty well. I am happy that we won 3-0. Iran are also a very good team. Tomorrow will be a tough match for us,” said Sana Anarkulova, Altay captain and the best scorer of the match..
