Bangkok, Thailand, March 18, 2022 – Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation is extremely proud to be nominated by the Commonwealth Beach Volleyball Steering Group to host the Asian Qualifying Beach Volleyball Tournament for Commonwealth Games 2022 between March 18 and 19, 2022.
The two-day tournament is being held at the Beach Park Negombo, the competition site for the recent 1st Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Beach Volleyball Championship for the 75th Independence Cup, with Singapore, Malaysia, Maldives and hosts Sri Lanka testing their mettle to vie for the top honour and the lone ticket (country) in each men’s and women’s event to compete in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth due to be held in Birmingham, England from July 28 to August 8, 2022.
The Opening Ceremony of the Asian Qualifying Beach Volleyball Tournament for Commonwealth Games 2022 was held on Friday, March 18, with Hon. Kanchana Jayaratne, President of Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation presiding. Also in attendance were SLVF Secretary General Mr A.S Nalaka and other high-ranked officials.
