Twenty-four players have been selected to represent Australia at the 2025 Asian Men’s and Women’s U16 Championships.
The 2nd Asian Men’s U16 Volleyball Championship will take place in Thailand from 12-19 July, while the 2nd Asian Women’s U16 Women’s Volleyball Championship will be held in Jordan from 20-27 July.
AUSTRALIAN WOMEN’S U16 TEAM
The Australian Women’s U16 team will be led by Head Coach Bradley Merson with the squad comprised entirely of Australian debutants, reflecting the depth of emerging talent in the country.
“The overall quality of gameplay at our recent training camp was exceptional, making the final team selections incredibly challenging – a true testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment this age group has shown over the past six months,” said Merson. “It was inspiring to see every athlete applying the feedback from the December camp and excelling in the key areas we’ve prioritised for success in the Asian competition environment.
“With the final team now selected, we eagerly look forward to taking the court in Jordan.
“We’re excited to showcase everything we’ve been working on, and as a coaching team, we are confident that these athletes will prepare to the highest standard and be ready to proudly represent Australia in July.”

AUSTRALIAN MEN’S U16 TEAM
The Australian Men’s U16 team will be led by Head Coach Adrien Ickowicz and, like the women’s team, is a squad made up completely of players representing their country for the first time.
“During a high-quality selection camp held at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra last month, the athletes demonstrated a strong commitment to playing their best volleyball, both on and off the court,” said Ickowicz.
“They did so by competing hard during the scrimmages organised throughout the camp, and the volleyball standard during these was extremely satisfying.
“All the athletes made a strong case for being part of the travelling squad. We can’t wait to see the team compete at the Asian Championships and apply their practice learnings to the big stage.”
Team: Benjamin Goodman (VIC), Bodhi Hand (WA), Carter James (QLD), Charles Davis (QLD), Dylan Ottaway (QLD), Ethan Luo (VIC), Ethan Smith (SA), Flynn Niu (QLD), Jai Saini (QLD), James Beddoe (VIC), Jye Turner (QLD), Tom Merrett (WA).
