Volleyball Australia is pleased to announce the selection of four athletes to represent Australia at the 2025 FISU World University Games
The 2025 FISU World University Games will be held in Duisburg, Germany in July, with the beach volleyball competition to take place at Sportpark Duisburg from 21-26 July.
Australia has selected one men’s and one women’s team to compete at the event, off the back of the 2024/25 summer.
Oliver Merritt (SA) will team up with Jed Walker (WA) as Australia’s men’s team, while Cassandra Dodd (WA) and Sarah Burton (WA) will wear the green and gold in the women’s competition.
Merritt/Walker had an impressive summer at home, highlighted by their gold medal performance at the Australian Beach Volleyball Tour in Cobram in February.
Dodd/Burton will pair up after another successful year in their respective US college beach volleyball programs – Dodd part of the University of California (UCLA) NCAA program, and Burton currently playing for the University of Hawaii.
Volleyball Australia Beach Performance Manager Simon Naismith said: “Each opportunity to wear the green and gold is one that I know our athletes do not take for granted.
“Competing at the World University Games will be a valuable step in their progression, and we’re excited to see them take on this next challenge and represent Australia later in the year.”
Volleyball Australia would like to congratulate the following athletes on their selection:
