Hiroshima, Japan, October 9, 2024 – AVC President Mr Ramon Suzara met with Mr Yuji Saeki, President and CEO of the Mikasa Corporation (hereafter called “Mikasa”) at Mikasa Headquarters in Hiroshima on Thursday to discuss important topics and strengthen collaborative ties while entering the new era of leadership for the sport in Asia and Oceania.
During the visit, the AVC President was warmly welcomed by Mr Saeki and Mr Hidekazu Iizuka, Mikasa Director and Head of Sporting Goods.
They gave the AVC President a factory tour in the main office, where the official match balls have been produced for all FIVB and AVC event properties, to help the AVC President understand Mikasa’s history, products and technologies.
After the one-day tour, the AVC President presented Mr Saeki the AVC Plaque for the Mikasa’s great support and contribution to the AVC, while the AVC President received an autographed ball, reflecting the warm interaction and a wonderful step to deepen mutual understanding and strong partnership between the two organizations.
AVC has enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with Mikasa for decades, with Mikasa balls being used in all levels and genders of AVC competitions. When people think of Mikasa, they certainly think of volleyball. And this is testament to the work the two organizations have done successfully together.
