Tokyo, Japan, October 12, 2024 – AVC President Ramon Suzara met with SV. League Chairman Masaaki Okawa and Japan Volleyball Association President Shunichi Kawai during his attendance in the opening ceremony of the SV.League at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Friday.
The SV.League, the top-level professional volleyball league for both men and women which, after the restructuring of the V.League, kicked off its inaugural season on Friday, October 11, with a remake of last season’s V.League final between reigning national champions Suntory Sunbirds Osaka and runners-up Osaka Bluteon, previously known as Panasonic Panthers Hirakata.
The AVC President witnessed the ceremony and had the opportunity to talk to SV.League Chairman Masaaki Okawa. During the conversation, the AVC President conveyed his sincere congratulations to Okawa on the inauguration of the SV.League whilst wishing him all the best success. He also presented the Chairman with AVC “Congratulations” Plaque.
Later, the AVC President met with JVA President Shunichi Kawai and talked about the remarkable success of the collaboration between the two organizations and the great opportunities ahead. The AVC President thanked him for the JVA’s continued support and contribution to AVC and both discussed the possibility and the future opportunities in organising a new competition in Asia in 2025.
In this auspicious occasion, the AVC President presented AVC Plaque to the JVA President whilst expressing his heartfelt gratitude for the JVA’s great collaboration and support to the continent’s governing body.
