Manama, Bahrain, May 27, 2025 – The Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA) has commenced formal preparations for the upcoming AVC Men’s Volleyball Nations Cup, set to take place in the Kingdom of Bahrain from June 17 to 24, featuring 12 national teams to compete for top honors in one of Asia’s premier volleyball events.
Organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) in collaboration with Volleyball World, the AVC Men’s Nations Cup serves as a key qualification event for the 2026 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship. The continental championship will, in turn, act as a qualifying pathway for two major future competitions: the top team will secure a berth at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, USA, while the top three teams will qualify for the 2027 FIVB Men’s World Championship.
Hosts Bahrain, Indonesia, Thailand, Qatar, Australia, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Chinese Taipei, Philippines, Korea, Vietnam and New Zealand have been divided into four pools of three. Teams will first compete in round-robin pool play, with the top two teams from each pool advancing to the quarterfinals. The remaining teams will compete in classification matches for 9th to 12th place.
The BVA’s first Executive Committee Meeting for the event was held on Tuesday, chaired by Mr Feras Al Halwachi, BVA General Secretary and Chairman of the Executive Committee, and attended by heads of various working committees and focused on the tournament’s operational planning and logistics. Mr Al Halwachi provided an overview of the Executive Committee’s structure and responsibilities, outlining the collective efforts required to ensure a successful hosting.
Meanwhile, the Bahrain senior national men’s team continues its intensive training program under the guidance of head coach Mr Arnaud Josserand of France and assistant coach Meshaal Turki. As part of their preparations, the team will conduct a training camp in Egypt from June 1 to 12.
Bahrain looks forward to welcoming teams and fans from across the region for what promises to be a thrilling and high-stakes competition, further strengthening the Kingdom’s position as a hub for international volleyball.
