NEW BAHRAIN LEAGUE SEASON TO KICK OFF ON NOV 1 WITH 8 TEAMS VYING FOR TOP HONOUR

Bangkok, Thailand, October 31, 2021 – The Bahrain’s First Division Volleyball League, held under the name of the well-known sports personalities in Bahrain and the world Sheikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa League (in honor of his memory), will kick off at Isa Sports City Multipurpose Hall in Riffa on Monday, November 1, 2021.

Eight clubs comprising Al Ahli, Muharraq, Dar Kulaib, Al-Najma, Al-Nasser, A’Ali, Bani Jamra and Nabih Saleh will be pitted against one another in the round-robin competition. Top four teams will qualify for the cross semi-finals, with the winning two teams through to the final showdown.

The team finishing on the bottom eight will be relegated to the Second Division League and will be replaced by the top team in the Second Division League in the next season.

At the previous season, Al-Ahli Bahrain reigned supreme, while Al-Muharraq picked up silver medal. Dar Kulaib and Al-Najma finished third and fourth places respectively.

Al-Nasser Bahrain came in fifth position, with Bani Jamra, A’Ali and Busaiteen Sport Club in respective 6th, 7th and 8th places. Busaiteen Sport Club were relegated to the Second Division and replaced by Nabih Saleh this season.

Al Ahli Bahrain, with the 47-year-old Khaled Belaid, former Tunisian men’s national volleyball team, at the helm this season, had already captured three Bahrain League titles consisting of 2014-2015, 20-17-2018 and 2020-2021 seasons aside from winning the 2016-2017 Arab Club Championships and Bahrain Cup for three times in a row (2016-2017, 2017-2018 and 2018-2019).
