Bangkok, Thailand, March 12, 2023 – The Bani Jamra Club underlined their supremacy over the BVA League for the 2022/2023 season after pulling off a dramatic 3-1 win against Busaiteen in the thrilling final showdown at the Issa Bin Rashid Hall in the Riffa, Bahrain on Saturday.
Bani Jamra, which finished a distant 8th place at the 2021/22 season and 6th position in the Bahrain Cup in the same year, had achieved a well-deserved 25-20, 25-21, 25-27, 25-20 victory in the final. A’Ali and AL Tadamon finished 3rd and 4th places respectively.
The BVA has implemented a new system for the 2022/2023 campaign, where a total of 14 club teams under the umbrella of the BVA participated. Al Ahli joined Al Najma, Nabih Saleh, Bani Jamra, Alshabab, Maameer and Etehad Alreef in Pool A, while Pool B consisted of Al-Nasser, Dar Kulaib, Muharraq , A’Ali, Al Tadamon, Busaiteen and Al Dair.
Teams had been divided into two pools to compete in pool round-robin preliminaries. At the end of the first round, top three teams from each pool made the cut for the round of Final Six. Action in this stage featured two rounds, with the top four moving on to the semifinals.
His Excellency Sheikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Volleyball Association, presided over the presentation and closing ceremony, actively attended by a number of Members of the Board of Directors.
