CAVA NATION’S LEAGUE 2023 READY TO BURST INTO THRILLING ACTION IN KYRGYZSTAN ON JUNE 18

Bangkok, Thailand, June 16, 2023 – Seven teams are ready to test their mettle against one another and strive for success in the 2023 Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Nation’s League, which will be held at the Sports and Recreation Complex Gazprom in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan from June 18 to 25, 2023.

After successfully hosting the 3rd AVC Men’s Challenge Cup last year, which saw hosts Kyrgyzstan produce a terrific comeback for an eventual 3-2 win against Saudi Arabia in the final showdown to underline their supremacy, the Kyrgyzstan Volleyball Federation and people of Kyrgyzstan have a rare previledge to organize another major competition this year – the CAVA Nation’s League 2023.

Regarding the event, CAVA and KVF Secretary General Mr Kylych Sarbaghyshev informed that Pakistan had already hosted a successful first CAVA Nation’s League and this is the second edition of the tournament.

The competition had initially attracted a total of 8 teams to vie for top honor in the eight-day tournament. However, after the drawing of lots, Pakistan decided to withdraw from the event, while one week ahead of the kickoff of the tournament, Kazakhstan also followed suit to back out of the event, leaving only 6 teams in contention for the title.

With the withdrawal of Pakistan and Kazakhstan, said Mr Kylych, the host country has decided to field two teams in this tournament, hoping that their players will make the most of the tournament in sharpening their skill against strong teams from overseas.

Participating teams comprising Iran, Nepal, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan 2 will contest the single round robin. The team with the best result after the last match on June 25 will be crowned champions.

According to the match schedule, on June 18, the opening day of the eagerly-anticipated tournament, Nepal will kick off their campaign with Mongolia, followed by the thrilling encounter between Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan 2. Kyrgyzstan will take on Uzbekistan, with Iran taking a rest day.

On June 19, Mongolia will go up against Turkmenistan, while Iran will play their first match against Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will face off against Nepal.

The Day 3 competition on June 20 sees Kyrgyzstan 2 go up against Mongolia, Iran meet Nepal and Turkistan take on Kyrgyzstan.

After the first three days, all participating teams will have a rest day on June 21. The single round-robin encounters will resume on June 22 and continue until June 25, the final day of the competition. The team with the best result throughout the eight-day event will reign supreme.
