Gresik, East Java, Indonesia, June 25, 2023 – Chinese Taipei finished in third place in the 2023 AVC Challenge Cup for Women after a straight-set win, 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-18) against India on Sunday at the Tri Dharma Petrokimia Gresik Gymnasium.
Chinese Taipei played with their characteristic agility and tight, uncompromising coverage on the floor. They were passing extremely well, which afforded them the space and momentum for high percentage attacks.
Setter Lin Chin-Yi orchestrated the offense fluidly throughout the match. She banked on her entire unit on the floor, enabling 4 hitters to deal double-digit scores.
Chang Li-Wen, who contributed 12 points in the victory, added “This team is composed of national team members and players at the university level, and we want to find the best mix possible.”
Chinese Taipei head coach Chen Yu-An said, “We trained under this program for only 3 months and we want to continue working for our next competition at the Universiade. If we continue to improve, we will have a good performance also in the Asian Games.”
“This team represents new blood with the transition of generations of Chinese Taipei volleyball,” added Chen Yu-An.
