Under the leadership of FIVB President Fabio Azevedo, volleyball has entered a new era defined by record-breaking events, innovative partnerships and an unwavering commitment to the future of the game.
Guided by the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032, the Global Volleyball Movement has seen incredible growth and momentum. From Volleyball Nations League and the Beach Pro Tour to Age Group World Championships, the past season has broken records and inspired fans around the world. Strategic leadership appointments have further strengthened the sport’s global reach, with internationally renowned sports executives Michael Payne and Ugo Valensi joining Volleyball World to help drive forward its ambitious vision. With one World Championship ongoing, and two more fast approaching, volleyball’s rise on the world stage shows no signs of slowing.
This latest edition highlights the many milestones that have defined the past few months. On 7 July, millions of people across the globe came together to celebrate the first-ever World Volleyball Day, demonstrating the sport’s power to unite communities. The FIVB also advanced its sustainability efforts by signing the Sports for Nature Framework, joining a global movement to protect and restore biodiversity through sport. Meanwhile, the Paris 2024 one-year-to-go celebrations brought Olympic champions and dignitaries, including IOC President Kirsty Coventry and IOC Honorary President Thomas Bach, back to the French capital, showcasing the city’s continued dedication to its Olympic legacy while placing volleyball firmly at the heart of the celebrations.
After a year filled with growth, innovation and celebration, the Global Volleyball Movement is stronger than ever. With so much still to come, the FIVB remains committed to empowering communities, inspiring the next generation and ensuring volleyball continues to thrive as a force for positive change around the world.
