Discussion focused on empowering coaches as leaders in the Global Volleyball Movement
The FIVB Coaches Commission held its annual meeting on Monday, February 10, the first since the election of FIVB President Fabio Azevedo in November 2024. The meeting focused on key initiatives to empower coaches and enhance the development of volleyball worldwide.
At the heart of discussions was the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032, built on the motto “Together as One”. At the start of the day’s events, President Azevedo outlined four key pillars essential to the sport’s continued growth that the Coaches Commission should focus on in the year ahead: FIVB World Rankings; FIVB World Calendar 2029-2032; Technology and Integrity of the Game; and Knowledge Transfer and Sustainability.
The meeting also featured important discussions on Game Enhancement, updates from both the indoor and beach volleyball departments and insights into Volleyball World’s latest activities and initiatives.
FIVB Coaches Commission President Giovanni Guidetti emphasised the crucial role of coaches in realising the FIVB’s long-term vision:
“The FIVB Strategic Vision 2032 is grounded in the motto ‘Together as One’. A coach’s role is to unite their team, ensuring they work towards a common goal and purpose. This same principle applies to the Global Volleyball Movement. Coaches are vital to the growth and success of our sport, and we must continue to support and empower them at every level. It is our responsibility to provide opportunities for aspiring coaches too, to develop their skills and encourage them to engage even more with our community.”
The FIVB will continue its annual Commission meetings, with the FIVB Communications Commission meeting scheduled for 11 February.
