Meeting focused on FIVB Strategic Vision 2032, media strategy and global promotion of the sport
The FIVB Communication Commission convened yesterday, bringing together communications experts from across the Global Volleyball Movement to discuss key initiatives aligned with the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032, under the motto “Together as One”.
At the outset, FIVB President Fabio Azevedo highlighted the four key pillars that will shape the Commission’s focus in the year ahead: Athletes, History, and Heritage; Knowledge Transfer and Sustainability; International Relations and the Olympic Movement; and Social Responsibility and Mass Participation – Volleyball Foundation.
The meeting featured a presentation from Volleyball World CEO Finn Taylor, who provided an overview of the organisation’s progress in recent years and outlined future opportunities in sponsorship, marketing and digital media. Stéphanie Giardina, Chief Revenue Officer – D2C, presented exciting developments for VBTV, Volleyball World’s dedicated OTT streaming platform, aimed at further engaging audiences around the world.
Additionally, Jon Tibbs, Chairman of JTA, a leading sports PR and international relations firm, discussed “The Changing Sports Media Landscape – Opportunities and Challenges,” providing valuable insights into the rapidly evolving nature of sports communication. FIVB Head of International Affairs and Communications, Anna Manuelian, also provided an update on the department’s work as they tell the stories of the Global Volleyball Movement.
Commission members engaged in discussions on several critical topics, including content distribution challenges across different territories and strategies to increase the sport’s global promotion. The conversation also explored ways to further engage casual fans and identify content styles that attract new audiences. The role of athlete influencers in enhancing volleyball’s visibility was also a key topic of discussion.
Peter Diamond, President of the FIVB Communication Commission, emphasised the importance of collaboration and innovation in driving volleyball’s future success.
“It is a great personal honour to continue in this role within the new administration, led by President Fabio Azevedo. Our Commission has an incredible opportunity to build upon the great work already done to promote volleyball and beach volleyball around the world, while fulfilling the objectives of the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032. As a Commission, we will meet more frequently and establish working groups to address key topics. Our sport continues to reach new heights at major championships and the Olympic Games, and we should take great pride in its remarkable growth.”
