The Commission helps to keep the sport fair, transparent and respected by the Global Volleyball Movement
The FIVB Legal Commission held its annual meeting yesterday, the first since the election of FIVB President Fabio Azevedo three months ago. The meeting focused on key legal matters and ensuring the FIVB continues to uphold the highest standards of good governance.
A central topic of discussion was the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032, built on the motto “Together as One.” President Azevedo outlined three key areas for the Commission to prioritise in the coming year: FIVB Good Governance – State of the Art; National Federations’ Categorisation and Membership; and International Relations and the Olympic Movement.
The meeting agenda covered a broad range of legal matters, including the FIVB Legal & Transfer Department’s Annual Report, a review of regulations and updates on ongoing legal challenges. Other matters impacting the Olympic Movement and sports governance were also discussed.
FIVB Legal Commission President Rogerio Oliveira highlighted the Commission’s role in safeguarding the sport’s governance:
“The Legal Commission is the heart of volleyball’s integrity. We ensure our regulatory and governance framework keeps the sport fair, transparent and respected by the Global Volleyball Movement.”
Oliveira also emphasised the importance of the specialised working groups operating throughout the year to address emerging challenges. This approach has led to significant progress, with 245 of the 246 proposals put forward between 2021 and 2024 successfully integrated into the FIVB framework.
The FIVB will continue its annual Commission meetings with the FIVB Game Technology and Innovation Commission meeting scheduled for 14 February.
