Commission holds its annual meeting in hybrid format

The FIVB Medical Commission held its annual meeting this week stressing its commitment to fair play and the well-being of athletes.

The meeting was held in a hybrid format with both the Commission President Annie Peytavin and Secretary Bruno Borges da Fonseca joining the meeting in-person at the FIVB Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, with the remaining members joining via videoconference.

During the meeting the Commission discussed a number of important topics, including the Amendments to the FIVB Medical and Anti-Doping Regulations and FIVB COVID-19 Protocol. The members also discussed the opportunity to host the FIVB Medical Congress in the upcoming years and listened to the report of the FIVB Anti-Doping Programme 2022.

The FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° opened the Commission meeting by saying:

“I would like to thank all the members of the Commission, led by Dr Annie Peytavin, for your efforts, knowledge and expertise to help us establish COVID-19 protocols and organise safe and secure events during the difficult time.

“We also continue to show zero tolerance towards doping, and our anti-doping programme remains critical in ensuring clean and fair competition within our sport. I count on each of you to help us maintain safe environments for our athletes to compete in, while also ensuring a level playing field.”

The FIVB Commission meetings will proceed this week with the Rules of the Game and Refereeing Commission on 14 December.
