Bangkok, Thailand, August 28, 2025 – Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA) President Mr Somporn Chaibangyang on Wednesday conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to venue managers, dedicated staff, and all stakeholders whose commitment and teamwork ensured the resounding success of the first round of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship Thailand 2025.
Building on last year’s acclaimed hosting of the Women’s Volleyball Nations League Finals in Bangkok, Thailand has once again taken center stage in global volleyball. The championship dazzled athletes, officials, and fans alike, with 32 teams from around the world competing across four host cities, Bangkok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Phuket, and Chiang Mai, while millions of viewers followed the daily live-streamed matches worldwide.

The historic first-round mission has now concluded with distinction. Mr Somporn, accompanied by Mr Shanrit Wongprasert, Honorary Life Vice President and Executive Director of the AVC, had the honor of joining FIVB President Mr Fabio Azevedo and his delegation on inspections in all four host cities. He reported that the FIVB leadership expressed their utmost satisfaction with every aspect of the organization, from competition venues and accommodations to facilities, services, and operations.
“Most impressive of all was the overwhelming number of spectators, surpassing all previous World Championships. Their passionate support and lively participation in side activities truly captured the spirit of Amazing Thailand. The FIVB President was also particularly impressed with the off-court initiatives at every venue, especially the waste-sorting campaign under the Green Heart Event project, and asked me to convey his warm congratulations and appreciation to everyone involved,” Mr. Somporn said.
On behalf of the TVA Executive Board, he further expressed:
“I wish to extend my deepest gratitude for your dedication, sacrifice, resilience, and determination. Your tireless efforts, physical, mental, and intellectual, enabled this event to surpass expectations and achieve remarkable success. This is a moment we can all share pride in, as it highlights the prestige and positive image of Thailand on the world stage. If any aspect caused discomfort or inconvenience, I sincerely apologize.”
Mr Somporn also shared another proud achievement:
“According to host broadcaster PPTV HD36, the Thailand–Netherlands match set a new national record for the highest television viewership of any sports broadcast in Thai history. This milestone underlines the truly historic significance of this championship for our country.”
Looking ahead, he noted that while the first round has ended on a high note, the journey continues with the Round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, and the grand final, all to be staged at Huamark Indoor Stadium through September 7, 2025.
“As hosts, I am confident, alongside all Thai people, that the remaining stages will unfold smoothly and successfully, as we all hope. I kindly ask for your continued cooperation and commitment in carrying this mission forward. For those whose duties have concluded but who still wish to join the atmosphere, your existing ID card will grant you access. Finally, let me assure you that I will always remember and cherish the kindness and dedication of each and every one of you.”
Hosting this event is not merely about sports; it is a stage that truly reflects the power of friendship, international cooperation, and the immense potential of Thailand’s tourism industry on the global stage. Since the opening of this volleyball spectacle on August 22 across four venues, Thailand has experienced a significant economic boost, particularly through sports tourism, job creation, and increased tax revenues.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, August 26, the rest day, all 12 qualified teams from the first round in Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Phuket traveled to Bangkok to continue their campaigns, joining the four teams already based in the capital, hosts Thailand, the Netherlands, Japan, and Serbia, in their preparation for the round of last 16 beginning Friday, August 29.
Brazil, the Dominican Republic, China, and France flew in from Chiang Mai, while Belgium, Poland, Italy, and Germany arrived from Phuket. The remaining four, USA, Turkey, Slovenia, and Canada, traveled comfortably by air-conditioned team bus to Bangkok.
With all contenders now assembled in the capital, excitement has reached fever pitch. The stage is set for the world’s best to showcase their skills and fight for glory at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship Thailand 2025.
Fans can look forward to four days of high-octane action in the round of 16, from August 29 to September 1, at the iconic Huamark Indoor Stadium. The atmosphere promises to be nothing short of electrifying!
