The FIVB is proud to announce that President Fabio Azevedo has been appointed to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Foundation Board as the representative of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF). His appointment will be for the term 1 January 2026 – 31 December 2028.
Azevedo succeeds Jean-Christophe Rolland, President of World Rowing, whose final three-year term on the WADA Foundation Board concludes at the end of 2025.
The WADA Foundation Board is the Agency’s highest decision-making body, responsible for setting the strategic direction and overall policies of the global anti-doping system.
The Board is composed of 42 members, including representatives from the Olympic Movement, governments, National Anti-Doping Organisations (NADOs), and the WADA Athlete Council. This helps to ensure a balanced and collaborative approach to protecting clean sport worldwide.
Speaking about his appointment, Fabio Azevedo said:
“It is a great honour to represent the international sports community on the WADA Foundation Board. The fight for, and protection of, clean sport is fundamental to maintaining the integrity, fairness and credibility of all sports. It is a mission that aligns closely with the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032, which we are actively implementing and achieving. Built on four key pillars; Professionalism, Integration, Peace and Solidarity, this vision guides our efforts to strengthen the global volleyball ecosystem. I look forward to continuing this mission, acting on WADA’s objectives and strengthening collaboration between the Olympic Movement and the anti-doping community.”
