FIVB PRESIDENT AWARDED DOCTOR OF LETTERS DEGREE BY KALINGA INSTITUTE OF INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY

The prestigious honour recognises Dr Ary S. Graça F°’s outstanding contributions to the global growth and development of volleyball

• FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° has been awarded the Doctor of Letters Degree by Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology in India
• The award recognises his immense contributions to the growth and development of volleyball across the world
• The FIVB President accepted the award in front of 500 students, teachers and guests
• KIIT and KISS universities were founded by the visionary Dr Achyuta Samanta, in 1992 and 1993 respectively

FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° was awarded the Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) by the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Bhubaneswar, India this week.

This prestigious honour was awarded to the FIVB President in recognition of his immense contributions to the growth and development of volleyball across the world. The previous recipients of the KIIT Doctor of Letters degree include several Nobel Prize winners.

In his acceptance speech, FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° said:

“Volleyball has always been more than just a sport to me – it is my passion, my life and my driving force…So, as the President of the FIVB, I promised to deliver innovation and opportunity for the global Volleyball Family.”

The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) are universities in India and supporters of the FIVB Volleyball Foundation. The ceremony was held off the back of the KISS Volleyball Foundation Festival. The event brought together over 5,000 children to participate in fun volleyball activities across 60 outdoor courts. The total of 40,000 children joint the Festival.

Earlier this week, the FIVB President was also honoured with prestigious KISS Humanitarian Award, marking it as the first time ever that the same personality receives both awards at the same time.
