FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° recently visited the Indonesian Volleyball Development Center in Sentul, Indonesia where he pledged his commitment to supporting the centre as part of a long-term plan to develop volleyball and beach volleyball in Indonesia.
The Indonesian Volleyball Development Center has also been named a Centre of Excellence and will receive annual support of 20,000 USD from the FIVB.
The 57,000m2 Indonesian Volleyball Development Center, inaugurated in 1995 by the then IOC President, Juan Antonio Samaranch, has an indoor gymnasium with a 650-seat capacity and two volleyball courts. The centre also boasts two beach volleyball courts and athletes’ villages for volleyball and beach volleyball players alongside other facilities.
The centre serves as an important facility for the preparations of the Indonesian volleyball and beach volleyball men’s and women’s national teams, and will be part of a long-term plan for the sport’s growth in the country with the support of the FIVB and Volleyball Empowerment programme.
FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° said:
“We are pleased to welcome this training base for the Indonesian national teams as a Centre of Excellence. The existing facilities are good for the players and coaches and we will also provide additional equipment as part of our support if needed. The Indonesian Volleyball Development Center will serve as a key facility for developing Indonesian volleyball talent.”
