FIVB President discusses participation and hosting opportunities with National Volleyball Federation of Indonesia
FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° recently discussed the potential of Indonesia in volleyball and beach volleyball with the leadership of the National Volleyball Federation of Indonesia (PBVSI) during the FIVB President’s first ever official visit to the country.
The FIVB delegation, led by the FIVB President alongside the AVC President Rita Subowo, FIVB General Director Fabio Azevedo met with the PBVSI leadership, including President Imam Sudjarwo and the PBVSI Vice-Presidents, at the Indonesia Volleyball Development Center in Sentul, Indonesia.
During the meeting, the FIVB President shared the national team development opportunities available to the National Federation that can help the country reach its full potential on the Asian and international volleyball and beach volleyball scenes.
“Indonesia is a very important market for the FIVB and we are pleased to see the great potential and popularity of volleyball in the country,” the FIVB President stated. “The FIVB is ready to work together with the PBVSI on identifying the key focus area for the development of the national team and will support the National Federation’s vision via the programme of Volleyball Empowerment. Together, we can reach the full potential of the sport in the country and bring the best volleyball action to the local fans that are already very passionate about our sport.”
The PBVSI leadership shared its long-term plan with the FIVB delegation which was inspired by its initial meeting with the FIVB President in the Philippines last year. Additionally, the PBVSI confirmed its interest in exploring the opportunity to bid for the Age Group Volleyball World Championships in 2025.
“We are delighted that our previous conversation with the National Federation has encouraged them to dream big and to work on a long-term plan for the development of our beloved sport in the country. The FIVB is supportive of Indonesia’s interest in bidding for upcoming Age Group events and we look forward to working together for the benefit of the sport in the country,” added the FIVB President after the meeting.
