Lausanne, Switzerland, July 31, 2020 – FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° today announced the launch of the FIVB Development Projects Platform 2020, with applications opening from 1 August 2020.
The opening of the Projects Platform, which aims to advance the level of national teams worldwide, is a clear demonstration of the FIVB’s steadfast commitment to the development of volleyball, even during challenging times. The platform provides all 222 of the FIVB’s National Federations (NFs) with the opportunity to request funding for projects designed to improve the level of national teams through the supply of coaching, volleyball equipment or high-level coach the coaches clinics.
In a video message to the Volleyball Family the FIVB President said:
“I believe that now more than ever, we should be united and support each other. Investment into our beloved sport must not stop, even with the financial difficulties we are now facing. So, thanks to the good governance and administration of our sport, we can use our great financial results of 2019 to continue to invest into our sport. As I have said many times, the money that comes from sport should go back into sport! That is why, I am delighted to announce that the FIVB Projects Platform will be open from 1 August 2020 for all 222 National Federations!”
Overall, since 2017, the FIVB has approved a total of 276 projects from 158 NFs, totalling an investment of almost 2.9 million USD into the development of volleyball and beach volleyball. Of these 276 projects, 97 were for coaching support and 148 were for volleyball equipment support. In total, the FIVB has provided its NFs with 8015 balls, 23 floors and 40 net systems for volleyball courts.
Projects Platform 2020 will remain open for applications for two months until 30 September 2020. All approved projects will then be delivered the year after the submission of applications in 2021.
