Success stories of the Volleyball Empowerment and Development programmes were presented
The FIVB Board of Administration meeting got underway on Thursday with FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° praising the achievements to date, including an impressive number of success stories from the revolutionary programmes of Volleyball Empowerment and Development.
The Board of Administration members were also welcomed by sports officials from the Dominican Republic, including Dr José Joaquín Puello, Ad-Vitam President of the Dominican Republic National Olympic Committee and Lic Ramon A. Garcia, President of the Dominican Republic Volleyball Federation.
Dr Puello praised the FIVB and noted that it is one of the most important IFs in the world. Meanwhile, Lic Garcia thanked the FIVB for bringing such an important gathering to the country.
Delivering his opening message, the FIVB President highlighted the incredible impact of the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment and Development programmes in improving the level of national teams all over the world. The programmes have resulted in both volleyball and beach volleyball teams benefitting from the programmes reaching the podium at Zonal, Continental and international events.
“Since 2017, the FIVB has approved a total of 779 projects from 194 National Federations across all five Continental Confederations. This support totals an investment of more than 20 million CHF. These 779 projects include 306 coach support programmes, 393 volleyball equipment programmes and 80 knowledge transfer programmes,” the FIVB President said.
“For the coach support programmes, we employ 126 coaches from all over the world. Through 393 volleyball equipment projects in 140 National Federations, the FIVB provided almost 20,000 balls, 81 floors and 212 net systems to the National Federations, with a total investment of over 5 million CHF.
And I am delighted that these programmes are already bringing great results that we are constantly communicating through the FIVB website. All the details of the programmes are also presented in a transparent way through the data visualisation tool available for everyone to access.”
During the first day of the FIVB Board of Administration meeting, the members discussed a number of important topics, including the FIVB volleyball calendar from 2025-2028 as well as the new FIVB Foundation project. The three-day gathering will continue on 23-24 June.
