FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° met with International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach at the Olympic House earlier this week.
The two leaders discussed in depth the success of volleyball and beach volleyball at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, highlighting the full stadiums for all matches and the impressive media coverage across the globe.
The FIVB President also shared his incredible experience earlier this month in India, where over 40,000 children attended the mass participation KISS Volleyball Foundation Festival. The event featured 5,000 players enjoying volleyball across 60 courts in Bhubaneswar, India.
The festival broke the Guinness World Record for the most players in volleyball exhibition match, bringing together 430 players in a single game.
In their discussions, the FIVB President also provided an update on the FIVB’s latest achievements, including the huge global expansion of the sport following the implementation of the FIVB Nucleus Plan. This includes 186 countries with Volleyball TV subscriptions and 201 countries supported through the Volleyball Empowerment and Development programmes.
The FIVB President was also pleased to share that in 2023, the FIVB reinvested 53 per cent of its revenues back into the sport through prize money and the Volleyball Empowerment and Development programmes.
