Lausanne, Switzerland, March 23, 2020 – The FIVB’s innovative digital strategy has seen the federation climb two spots to be ranked third by digital communications agency, Redtorch, in their #SportonSocial League Table 2020, which analyses International Federation’s (IF’s) performance across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
The FIVB’s results in the #SportonSocial reflect the federation’s emphasis on delivering high-quality, compelling content across its digital platforms in order to engage audiences and promote volleyball and beach volleyball globally.
FIVB ranked third in Redtorch’s #SportonSocial League Table 2020
The FIVB ranked in the top five of each of the social media platforms analysed in the report, ranking third on both Facebook and Instagram, and second and fifth on YouTube and Twitter respectively. The second overall spot in the YouTube rankings demonstrated the significant improvements that the FIVB has made on the platform as it moved up nine places from eleventh the year prior. The FIVB created 2,000 videos, the most out of all IFs, totalling the fourth highest number of views.
In addition, on Facebook, the FIVB achieved the third highest growth rate of 42% with 525,000 new fans attracted. One of its showcase volleyball competitions, the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL), accounted for 32% of this total growth.
FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça Fᵒ said:
“In this digital age, engaging with our fans and promoting volleyball and beach volleyball through our social media platforms are paramount. It is nice that the work we are doing is recognised within the industry, but the most important thing is that we are creating more opportunities for our global fanbase to enjoy and have access to content from our beloved sport. We know that we can do even more and we are committed to building on the recent successes.”
FIVB Head of Digital Motasem El Bawab added:
“With a new and adaptable digital framework implemented in 2019 and a focus on engaging content, we were able to quickly change our production for each platform and provide the fans with what they want to watch.”
The FIVB shows no signs of slowing down in its commitment to showcasing the best of volleyball for its fans. Just last month, the FIVB announced an ongoing partnership with WSC Sports to provide fans with tailored video content powered by artificial intelligence.
