Malé City, Maldives, July 21, 2025 – Day 5 of the CAVA Champions League 2025 brought high-voltage action and tournament-shifting results as teams returned to the court after a well-deserved Sunday break. With three pivotal matches on the schedule at Social Center Indoor Hall, fans witnessed moments of brilliance, fierce determination, and the biggest upset of the competition so far.
Match 10: HELP Nepal Dethrones ZHAIYK in Five-Set Epic
HNS def. ZHK 3–2 (25–22, 18–25, 23–25, 25–18, 15–11)

In a stunning upset, HELP Nepal Sports Club (HNS) handed ZHAIYK VC (ZHK) their first defeat of the tournament, edging them out in a nail-biting five-set showdown. ZHK looked poised for another win after taking a 2–1 set lead, but Nepal stormed back, riding the brilliance of Jehan Murad, who fired in a tournament-high 26 points.
ZHK’s Vitaliy Erdshtien continued his strong form with 20 points (17 spikes), but couldn’t overcome Nepal’s rock-solid defense, anchored by Ali Usman Faryad’s all-around performance.
“We believed in our fight. Every set was a war, and today we won it,” said HNS captain Jehan Murad.
“We gave it our all, but they were sharper in key moments. We’ll bounce back,” remarked ZHK coach Kozik Viktor.
Match 11: Bishkek Sweep Past DSC with Ruthless Efficiency

Bishkek VC (BKZ) continued their unbeaten streak, brushing aside Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC) in straight sets to maintain their dominance atop the standings.
Captain Zhantemir Zheenbek Uulu led the way with 15 points, supported by Iliaz Abdimomun Uulu’s sharp net play. DSC’s Khan Afaq was once again their standout with 24 points, but Bishkek’s tactical play and relentless serving proved too much.
“We’re executing with confidence—this is our rhythm now,” said BKZ’s Zhantemir.
Match 12: SLP Blank HDC to Keep Momentum Alive
SLP def. HDC 3–0 (25–21, 25–23, 25–15)

Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLP) powered through Club HDC in straight sets to notch their second win of the tournament. With a cohesive team effort, SLP dominated the match tempo, thanks to strong performances from Wasanthapriya Lasindu and Subasingha Akindu, each contributing 16 points.
Chandrasiri Pabasara added vital blocks and service aces. Despite flashes of brilliance from Sebastian Giraldo Gomez (13 points) and Hussain Shamaail (14 points), HDC struggled to maintain consistency.
“We’re clicking at the right time. Momentum’s building,” said Lasindu.
After Day 5 of the CAVA Champions League, Bishkek VC (BKZ) lead the standings with 11 points from four straight wins and an impressive sets ratio of 4.000. ZHAIYK VC (ZHK) follows closely in second with 10 points and a sets ratio of 2.750, having suffered their first loss of the tournament. HELP Nepal Sports Club (HNS) sit in third place with 8 points and a 3–1 record, while Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLP) are in fourth with 6 points and an even 2–2 record. Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC) remain winless but have earned 1 point, placing them fifth with a sets ratio of 0.250. Club HDC rounds out the table in sixth, also without a win and yet to register a point, with a sets ratio of 0.083.
Coming up next, Tuesday will mark the final day of round-robin action in the CAVA Champions League Maldives 2025. Three high-stakes matches are set to determine the final standings before the medal rounds.
ZHAIYK VC will face Bishkek VC in a top-of-the-table battle that could decide who heads into the finals as the number one seed.
