Hong Kong Senior, Junior Men’s and Women’s as well as Boys’ and Girl’s Youth Volleyball Team arrived in Jiangmen on December 23 and will take part in the 2024 Greater Bay Youth Volleyball Invitational & Squad Team Exchange Scheme.
Hong Kong, December 23, 2024 – Hong Kong Senior, Junior Men’s and Women’s as well as Boys’ and Girl’s Youth Volleyball Teams left for Jiangmen, Guangdong on Monday (Dec 23) to participate in the Squad Team Exchange Scheme, and visited the training centre of China Volleyball Association, Jiangmen Sports Centre, with skills and fitness training.
The Junior and Youth Teams will also take part in the Greater Bay Youth Volleyball Invitational, exchanging with different teams through matches and gaining experience, to prepare for the 15th National Games of the People’s Republic of China in next November.
Apart from volleyball training, cultural exchange is also an integral part of this Scheme, the Junior Teams will visit the Overseas Chinese Museum and the former residence of famous politician Liang Qichao.
With more than 120 players and officials joining the scheme, this is the first exchange scheme which integrates members from the Senior, Junior and Youth Teams at the same time. The Senior Men’s and Women’s Teams will participate in the training session from December 23 to 26, while the Junior and Youth Teams will participate in the training sessions from December 23 to 27, and joining the Invitational between December 28 and 29, that playing against teams from universities and secondary schools in mainland China. Apart from volleyball training, cultural exchange is also an integral part of this Scheme, the Junior Teams will visit the Overseas Chinese Museum and the former residence of famous politician Liang Qichao.
Mrs Shek Tsui Wai Fun Marina, Team Manager of the Senior Women’s Team, said “We hope to provide a systematic and appropriate physical training for the players by joining this exchange scheme, and to prepare for the 15th National Games. Additionally, the Junior and Youth Teams have the opportunity to participate in the Invitational, where they can compete with teams in different styles. This is truly a rare practical experience. After playing against teams from the mainland, they are sure to gain valuable insights.”
Members of the Hong Kong Volleyball Team started training soon after they arrived in Jiangmen.
