More volleyball action was underway this week, as International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach joined students for a volleyball session at Brisbane State High School on Monday. The President was taking part in grassroots sport during his visit to Queensland, in the lead-up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games Brisbane 2032.

Australian Olympian Natalya Diehm also took part in the activity, which showcased the strong connection between sport and youth engagement in Australia. The visit reflected the important role volleyball plays in both school and community sport, and the broader Olympic Movement’s commitment to inspiring young people through physical activity.

“It’s always great to be here in Brisbane, to experience the friendliness of the people and the passion for sport,” Bach told ABC News.

The volleyball session was part of a wider programme that included meetings with local organisers and visits to proposed venues across Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

With Brisbane set to host the Olympic Games from 23 July to 8 August 2032, volleyball continues to play an important role in the journey towards a successful Olympic Games!
